This all started as a small project when I was sent a few pictures from
Cherokee Jim asking if I could duplicate some home built shackles he
found on a customers FSJ back in late March of 2018.
So I decided to give it a shot.
The first set came out a little longer than expected but they actually
worked well on my Rancho 44044 springs and provided the
basic math to correct them into two versions, stock FSJ length
and GM length that add 1/2" of lift (please note that longer shackles only work
in the rear if you have a shackle flip installed).
These now have about 3,000 miles on them and several good wheeling
trips and are holding up just fine.
It was about mid October when the ability to source stock replacement
shackles took a turn I was not expecting. BJ's Off-Road was out (they are
looking for a supplier) and they quickly were out of the omix ada versions
at Jegs, Rock Auto and Summit.
I did contact Team GrandWagoneer and they state they have them in
stock, I'm betting these are the Crown versions.
It was right about then I decided to mass produce these and became
a wholesaler for Diversified Suspension Technologies.
A jig was finalized and decisions were made about what were
the acceptable tolerances.
.03" was chosen as acceptable, .04-.05" were considered blem units
and these were farmed out to raffles, friends and myself.
The jig was refined and there have been no units produced that
are more than .02" out of spec since then.
Every shackle is test fitted in a FSJ hanger prior to being numbered.
They also fit the rear of XJ's.
XJ owners like to use the MJ rear shackles for about 1/2" of lift so
the longer GM versions will work well for that purpose also.
Here they are on a brand new Rancho 44044 spring, perfect fit.
